Whats going on with the Steelers organization???

Earlier this week, the Steelers informed wide receiver Hines Ward  and defensive end Aaron Smith that they would be released, and guard Chris Kemoeatu was cut. Now another player, James Farrior is being cut as well.  I do not understand what is going on in that organization. They did not franchise tag Mike Wallace because if they did he would be getting $9 million but doesn't he deserve a long term contract? He is your star receiver and you already got rid of your veteran wide receiver. Instead they are going to tender him. This means people can offer him contracts and Steelers can try to match it. The Steelers are going down hill quickly and some of these managerial decisions aren't too smart.

  1. I believe that the Steelers are trying to trim down the age of their team and they are trying to free up cap space to sign Mike Wallace to a long term deal.

  2. I have a lot of mixed feelings about what is happening to the Steelers right now. I understand that we need to free up space because of the salary cap issue, but it is disappointing we have to let some of the veterans go. Hopefully we will be able to keep Mike Wallace after all of this!

  3. I understand the Steelers are an old team. They have a lot of older guys playing for them and a lot of veterans. It doesn't seem right that they are cutting down veterans though. Especially those who are offering a lower salary to keep playing the game that they love. I never expected James Farrior to get cut. Not sure what they are doing.

  4. Whatever it is, from a non-biased stand point, I think Hines Ward is a god-send and letting him go is a big mistake. I can't imagine the guy in any other uniform but I don't see his career being over yet. Heres to hoping he becomes a chicago bear!

  5. It is going to be very difficult to replace these players. They have all played an important role on the team and have added to the success of the Steelers organizations. It's a big loss.
